it will all be worth it
My life is so hectic, it is borderline insane. I wish I could sit all day on twitter, and tweet, or be on facebook “showing love” to everyone’s comments, but I can’t. My usual daily routine consists of getting up at 4:00 am, showering, brushing the braces, getting in some tight scrubs and sneakers and heading to the hospital. Surgeries start at 5, so beating hearts are in my hands by about 5:30. Typical surgery is about 4 hours long, depending on the severity of the case. Then comes rotation, which consist of checking on all the patients from the night before, and new patients from the morning, having the newbie’s (interns) check the vitals, then making diagnosis’ and deciding what further action if any needs to be done. Then more surgeries. By this time its about 4 or 5. Maybe grab a bite to eat; if I have @replies, I try to reply, and back to work. 12-18 hour shifts, are the norm with me. I love medicine, and I’m looking at the finish line, about 18 months and this lack of sleep, excessive studying, non-existent social life will all be worth it. :)
